Richard and Karen met romantically in 1981 aboard a cruise ship in the Caribbean, Richard was part of a Dance Team and Karen was a passenger, their romance flourished and they were married the following year. Karen knew how to get free dance lessons!

When Karen met Richard she was managing a beauty salon in Cleveland, Ohio where she was born. Having no formal training, she relied on Richard's guidance for her knowledge in ballroom dancing.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, Richard's dance career spans over 40 years and started with training and teaching at Arthur Murray's in Bangor, Maine, while in the air force. When discharged, his direction was teaching at “Arthur Murray television show”. The 20 years he lived in New York he studied acting, singing, ballet, Jazz and Modern Dance. His teaching experience includes “Fred Astaire's Dale Dance studio, Dance educators of America, Dance Masters of America, Resorts in the Catskill Mts. and the Pocono Mts. of PA., and his own dance studio in New York City for 8 years.

Richard and Karen are both well versed in the American and International style of ballroom dancing. They spent the first six years of their marriage creating their present ballroom dance show titled, “Best of Ballroom”. They spend their time between land and cruise ships with shows, teaching classes and private lessons. Some of their credits include opening shows for: foster Brooks, Vic Damone, The Ink Spots, Keely Smith, Barbara McNair, Mort Sahl, Corbett Monica, Don Cornell, Amil Cohen, Bobby Breen and others.
